Where we started
Not to be over the top, but Old 97 started out of what kind of felt like necessity? Josh approached me during the beginning bouts of COVID-19 about wanting to start something local, something fun and frankly - with warm bodies in the room. He was dying not playing music and I was dying from COVID.
In the beginning there was just us, with one other in mind and no one else. Gabe walked in for the first time to jam and we played to walls with no rhythm section. It was great, but it wasn’t a band. Eventually we ran into Peyton at a local brewery talking about music and drums, just shooting the shit. Peyton asked his buddy Josh to come jam and it kind of all just fell into place. And that sealed the deal; in came Old 97.
Well, after a year and a half of rehearsal.
